The objectives of this conference were to: establish a link between reconstruction activities and measures for disaster prevention in the medium- and long-term; initiate methods for the development of knowledge and tools at the municipality level; and establish a constructive dialogue between leaders, researchers, NGOs and donors in Latin America and Switzerland.
