International research consultation on

"Decent Work in Response to Crises"

The International Labour Organization (ILO), the Graduate Institute of International Studies (GIIS) and the Geneva International Academic Network (GIAN) invite journalists to the international conference on " Decent Work in Response to Crises ".

Concludinga major GIAN-supported research programme jointly undertaken by the ILOIFP/Crisis and the GIIS, the conference will provide important andtimely insights on employment-focused solutions to the challengescreated by crises (armed conflicts, natural disasters, economic andfinancial crises).

Opening session:
17 November 2005 at 9:15 am, ILO Headquarters

Theproject brings together representatives of international organisations,NGOs and academics based in Geneva and in more than 16 crisis-affectedcountries world-wide: Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Argentina,Cambodia, Colombia, Croatia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Macedonia,Palestinian Territories, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uruguay, Vietnam and countries of the Great Lakes Region .
