Additional partners wish to join this ongoing project. What steps must be taken?
The GIAN has no objection to having additional partners join an ongoing project. However, their contribution must be included in the cofinancing agreements, and a copy of a letter of intent as well as a revised budget must be sent to the GIAN.

The composition of the original research team has changed during the project. What should we do?
The GIAN requires all changes in the original project personnel to be reported to the GIAN in writing. It is usually necessary to send to the GIAN a CV of the new employee(s) and a statement as to his/her role in the project, and if applicable the reasons for the change or hiring.

What rules apply to the hiring of external contractors in a foreign country?
Commissioned research in foreign countries will be regulated by the Terms of Reference drawn up in a letter of agreement that conforms to the rules and regulations of the organisation commissioning the research. If the GIAN pays in part or in full for these contractors, all the GIAN rules will apply.

We need to hire extra research assistants. What rules apply?
If the project requires it, the GIAN may allow extra personnel to be hired, inasmuch as a revised budget reflects these changes. Research assistants have to be hired under the rules in force at the University of Geneva and ander a written contract. The GIAN pays the gross salaries of research assistants and other collaborators according to those rates.
